Minnesota Varsity League State Championship

MNVL threw its second ever State Championship on December 13th and 14th, and although Covid prevented us from being able to host anything in-person , we were able to throw an online event that was filled with awesome plays, crazy upsets, and tons of on-broadcast moments that made a great event for the kids (see recap video below)!

Congratulations to the winners (posted below) and to all participants! We hope you had a fun time this season and we look forward to throwing more events for you!

Rocket League:

  1. Hill Murray

  2. St Louis Park

  3. Farmington

The Rocket League tournament was exciting and filled with mechanical plays and big upsets! Farmington was able to make a solid run to 3rd place, surpassing a team they lost to twice in regular season, and St Louis Park also had a huge upset that put them in the finals against Hill Murray. At the end of the day, the giants of Hill Murray could not be overcome and they finished an almost perfect season with only a single game (not a series) lost.

Super Smash Bros Ultimate:

  1. Wayzata: Im_Aight

  2. Wayzata: Pixel

  3. Hill Murray: ArnieJ

The Super Smash Bros tournament was absolutely littered with upsets. We saw the early elimination of the 2nd seed, a 14 seed making it all the way to 4th place, and the top seed winning every game until the finals. Everyone came to play and it was anyone's game. In the end Wayzata remains the powerhouse to beat in the Smash MNVL Scene!

Overwatch:

  1. Wayzata

  2. St. Thomas Academy

  3. Hill Murray

The Overwatch tournament started with drama as two teams set to play one another, St Louis Park and Henry Sibley, both had players missing and had to play a 5v5. On the other side of the bracket Hill Murray was able to take down Rosemount but ultimately fell to Wayzata. St Thomas continued their amazing season as the 2 seed, and were able to beat SLP and push to the finals. In the end, the Wayzata team's ult management won them the day!
