Minnesota Varsity League Kicks Off Sixth Season

Version1 Returns as Official Valorant and Rocket League Sponsor; Brings on New Coaching and STEM Curriculum Partners

Wisdom Gaming and the Minnesota Varsity League (MNVL) today announced the start of the academic esports program’s sixth season for fall 2022. Minnesota's home for high school esports, MNVL has grown its operations to over fifty high schools with over 1,200 students participating in the program state-wide. At the close of pre-registration, MNVL saw fifty-six schools and 561 active members and brought on new schools, including Barnum High School, Shakopee High School, Lakeville North, and Chisago Lakes.

"As we enter our sixth season, it's important for us to take inventory on how we can further and expand our capabilities to support students as they excel not only in competition but also with core developmental skills," said Jake Utities, Director of Minnesota Varsity League. "We're thrilled to continue and expand our partnership with Version1 for Valorant and Rocket League for the fall 2022 season, as well as bring on new partners Vanta and STEM Fuse to further our offerings to students and schools."

Students participating in MNVL gain real-life experience outside of the games they play, with opportunities to learn from esports professionals, including players, casters, and others in the industry. Former students have gone on to work in esports and gaming due to the opportunities they received from the program.

MNVL is proud to have Version1 return as an official sponsor for the 2022 fall season. A crucial partner over the last four seasons, Version1 sponsorship allows students to compete for free. In addition to continuing to sponsor players in Valorant, this year Version1 is expanding its sponsorship to cover the registration fees for all Rocket League teams, as well.

"We are thrilled to continue our partnership with Minnesota Varsity League and high school esports for a fourth season," said Brett Diamond, Chief Operating Officer at Version1. “The growth in the high school esports community over the past few years has been exciting to watch. Supporting that growth as well as the development of the students in and out of the game is a high priority for Version1.”

In addition to Version1, youth esports platform Vanta has come on board as the official coaching partner, and STEM curriculum provider STEMFuse will be the official curriculum partner for MNVL. These new partnerships will expand coaching and development opportunities for students participating in MNVL esports programs.

MNVL Fall Season competition begins on October 16th, 2022, with matches streamed on https://www.twitch.tv/mnvl. For more information on MNVL, please visit mnvl.org.
