A Word from the League

This Winter Off-Season was a blast as we saw student players engage in both old and new MNVL titles during our Winter Series. We also got to see a lot of new talent be showcased in advance of the spring season.

With spring season upon us, we are excited to see all of the new school programs being started across Minnesota! We know esports programs make a significant difference for the kids involved and we love that MNVL gets to help them spread!

With this growth the MNVL has faced quite a bit of challenges, a few setbacks, and some big successes. Here are some quick highlights that have happened since our fall season:

  • Over double the schools from fall have joined (20+), and more are being added each week!

  • MNVL partners with LeagueSpot in order to scale for the spring season

  • We now employ four MN students for work in graphic design, social media, content creation, and broadcasting

  • We have two new student interns who will be on-air casting personalities for Super Smash Bros and Minecraft (more below)

  • The MNVL Tik Tok has gone from 40 to 8,000+ followers, and has over 2 million views in just three months! (all thanks to our student staff and all the work they put in)

We hope you keep an eye out for all the other opportunities we will have for our students. There is definitely more to come as we look to the spring season and further to the summer offseason (more on this soon).

Broadcasting Internship

We are extremely proud to share that we have selected our spring season Broadcasting Interns: Arnav Johnson and Nathaniel Sternberg!

These two will have an absolutely one-of-a-kind experience working with none other than Erik "Doa" Lonnquist, who is a professional esports caster/host and has worked in some of the largest esports broadcasts in his decade long career. Most recently known for being the head caster of the Overwatch League, Doa will be working with our interns each week, teaching them all the ins and outs of broadcasting and how to break into the esports industry!

Catch these new student broadcasters on air each Thursday with Thunder Mcfadden at twitch.tv/mnvl
