A Word from the League

Hey all,

We are midway through fall season and getting closer to the State Tournament. We just wanted to thank all of our coaches for the tireless work you put in wrangling your students, making sure they are where they need to be, and all the other headaches a coach has to deal with. We all know this work can dramatically affect the lives of our students for the better, and each coach not only contributes to their own players development but also to the entire state's by being leaders in building the Minnesota academic esports community.

We at MNVL pledge to always serve this community in which you lead, and know we are very much a part of it. Our leadership is also a coach, and we have had seven of our own student competitors as interns or employees working to help build this with us. We also love when our coaches and players have ideas or want to see things changed. That is why we consistently ask for your opinions on league decisions, and we thank you for the input you provide us with and the passionate discussions we have in our discord (they are fun to be a part of). We will be implementing many of these changes for future seasons (more info on that in future newsletters).

In this newsletter you will find some important information leading into the State Tournament and All Star Weekend. If you are a coach or player you will definitely want to check that section out for all the information you will need.

Looking forward to growing this with you all,

Minnesota Varsity League

State Championship Updates

Valorant will be increasing those accepted to the tournament from the top 8 teams to the top 16 teams. Teams will be chosen based off of win/loss record first, and then by game differential within their groups. The top 5 from each group will make the tournament, with the 6th place finisher from one group with the best win/loss also making it.

Streams for two of our tournaments will be moved to give our students a very rare and special chance to play on a professional esports team stream! (More below)

The State Tournament for Call of Duty will be featured on the Minnesota Røkkr's official Twitch page! Our players will be featured on a real Call of Duty League (CDL) team broadcast!

The State Tournament for Rocket League will be featured on Torrent Esports' official Twitch page! Our players will be able to say they played on a top 10 RLCS team's stream! (Torrent is based in Minnesota)
